Abstract: Playphone Europe has been using Open Source software from company inception. Simon will discuss what has driven the decisions to adopt Open Source technology, what Playphone is using now and how Playphone expects to use Open Source in the future.
Bio: Simon Rose is a graduate in Business Computing from City University, London. Simon spent 10 years in investment banking and insurance as an AIX/HPUX and database specialist and then spent a further 7 years in the web and mobile industries, latterly with Playphone Europe. Having cross trained into Systems Administration on Solaris and Linux, with National Australia Bank, Simon was brought into Playphone initially to add strength to the growing technical team and then on to lead and shape the Playphone technical team and infrastructure.
