Abstract: Leslie’s presentation will give an insight into how the Bank of East Asia has used the combined power of Red Hat Linux, MySQL and Actuate BIRT to produce regulatory reports for the Bank of England and the S17 Tax return for HM Revenue and Customs. The talk will demonstrate the versatility of the processing involved to produce reports and data for external usage i.e. Bank of England, HMRC , individual customers’ TAX certificates and also for internal customers such as the retail and accounts departments of the Bank. Leslie will explain how the future requirements of the bank’s data warehouse model will continue to use this same framework covering both the external and internal audience requirements.


Bio: With an IT career spanning more than 30 years, 16 of which have been spent in banking and finance, Leslie Jarrett is no stranger to the impact that technology has made on global business. Leslie has worked both for the software industry as a provider of solutions and as a business user in the banking sector. In his current role as Applications Analyst at the Bank of East Asia, Leslie is responsible for collating and producing the Regulatory Reporting and Inland Revenue Reporting tasks of the bank.
