Speaker: Chris Ingle, IDC
Abstract: Adoption of open source is affected not just by technology availability and by economic arguments but also by the need for greater organisational efficiency in the IT department. Organisations are approaching efficiency through different methodologies and techniques. Ingle's presentation will look at organisational philosophies for open source, staff involvement and drivers and inhibitors for OSS adoption.
Drawing on recent IDC research in both Europe and the US Ingle will look at the evolution of projects for which open source is being used, the growing maturity of open source and will plot a course for open source in commercial and government organisations.
