Speaker: Graham Harrop, Director and co-owner of Ultris and Koios
Abstract: Using Business Open Source Software to drive innovation and reduce costs across the whole lifecycle this presentation will review The New Economics of IT analysis about the reduced running costs opportunity and the importance of managing your supplier base to ensure healthy competition. The big initial savings may come from existing suppliers, but to drive those savings organisations will need to create viable competition by spending significant sums on Business Open Source products. As the market adoption wave continues, the wider economic and innovation advantages of Business Open Source will drive majority adoption assuming realistic expectation setting, effective support and project delivery within existing infrastructures. This presentation will draw on the personal experience of the presenter’s time at Microsoft and recent developments within his current role.
Bio: Graham Harrop is a Director and co-owner of Ultris and Koios; two SME’s that operate in the UK Public Sector market. He has spent the past twelve months working with Ingres driving policy change and new business through Ultris. At the same time Graham and the Koios team have been using Business Open Source Software to deliver services to Koios’ customers in the public and commercial sectors. Prior to Koios and Ultris, Graham spent 9 years at Microsoft in a range of senior management roles including Director of Microsoft’s government business.
